Project Description
The Palm Jumeirah, one of two man-made islands being developed off the shores of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, covers an area of 7 million square meters and extends 6.5 kilometers into the Arabian Gulf. The island will be surrounded by a 12-kilometer-long, crescent-shaped breakwater built with over 7 million tons of rock. It will be able to withstand a 4-meter-high wave. Parsons will move over 80 million cubic meters of sand reclaimed from the seabed using the latest dredging techniques.
When complete, the Palm Development will encompass 1,800 residential homes, 2,400 apartments, over 1 million square feet of commercial space, and up to 12,000 hotel rooms in 49 separate hotel sites.
