Project Description
Edison Schools is the largest for-profit publicly owned company operating public schools in the U.S. Since 1997, Parsons has provided design and construction management services to Edison for the renovation or new construction of schools throughout the U.S.
To date, Edison has issued Parsons 80 task orders, and we have performed the task order work for $600,000 less than originally estimated. These savings are due to our value engineering, and to negotiating best and final offers with contractors.
Our strict safety requirements on these projects have resulted in no lost time accidents. If projects start during the school year, contractors work after school hours and keep the worksite free of construction debris.
Parsons role begins with assessing potential schools, determining upgrades, preparing architecture and engineering designs, procuring construction services, and administering all contracts and agreements between Edison and its consultants.
Seventy-nine schools are open and 450 schools will open over the next 5 years.
