"Parsons has done an admirable job in helping to reuild Bosnia & Herzegovina. The team has delivered finished projects faster than any other donor in Bosnia & Herzegovina, and has earned the reputation of being the leader in reconstruction efforts." Merritt Broady, CTO Municipal Infrastructure Office, USADI/BiH
Project Overview
For decades, the nations of southeastern Europe have suffered from military, economic, and political crises and conflicts, with reverberating impacts throughout this region. USAID contracted with Parsons to rebuild municipal infrastructure to reinvigorate local economies and restore basic infrastructure in Bosnia and Kosovo.
One of the first challenges was to develop a strategy to deal with a large amount of unexploded ordnance (UXO) left behind by years of warfare. Parsons established a strict UXO demining assessment procedure to use on every project before any construction could begin. The result was a perfect safety record with no UXO-related accidents at 5,500 sites.
Parsons comprehensive services included engineering, design, demolition, and construction for power substations, flood control facilities, schools, health facilities, wastewater treatment plants, water distribution systems, major highways, and bridges.
