Major Marine Facilities Services
Parsons is a worldwide organization serving in nearly 500 locations globally. Such a presence is reassuring both in terms of the strength and breadth of the company’s capabilities and in working with people who understand the local, regional, and state regulations, legislation, and practices. It is even more reassuring to work with experts who focus entirely on a specific type of project, understanding the exclusive design, construction, aesthetic, and political characteristics associated with it. Any client requiring services for port, harbor, and marine facilities will find precisely that kind of focus within Parsons Ports and Harbors.
Our ability to adapt to an ever-changing set of client needs enables Parsons Ports and Harbors personnel to retain long-term client relationships such as managing the Yanbu Industrial City program in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, which includes a deep-water port, airport, and complete infrastructure for 104,000 people in a new city on the Red Sea.
Parsons’ marine facility capabilities are emphasized in the following areas:
- Port and harbor development
- Cruise, container, and general cargo facility development
- Waterfront and deepwater marine facility planning, design, and construction
- Modernization, expansion, and conversion of existing marine facilities
- Dredge-fill land reclamation
When local successes are combined with Parsons’ national and international specialty know-how, the outcome is sure to be a quality project delivered on time and within budget.
History
More than fifty years ago, Parsons designed and built the first new domestic shipyard since World War II for Litton Industries. This project set the stage to present comprehensive engineering, program management, and construction management for all aspects of port, harbor, and marine terminal facility development. A half-century later, Parsons Ports and Harbors provides enhanced marine capabilities and focuses on the special design, management, and security protocols of the industry. Today, the successful completion and commissioning of dozens of port and harbor facilities makes Parsons a leader for excellence in modern marine technologies.
Parsons puts its global port and harbor know-how to work in refurbishing and expanding existing marine facilities to include up-to-date terminals with wharves, jetties, and rail, intermodal, and support infrastructure capable of meeting today’s needs for cargo operations. Our team is equally capable in providing worldwide master planning and managing the development of grassroots and turnkey marine facilities that are unique in combining state-of-the-art terminals with resort and entertainment enterprises, highways, bridges, tunnels, and all support infrastructure.
Parsons performs in every environment around the globe, including the Arctic and desert conditions in the Middle East. Recent port/harbor/terminal work is the result of post-war or post-natural disaster reconstruction as well as new development to help sustain emerging economies. For example, in support of gas, oil, industrialization, and mineral production programs, Parsons planned, designed, engineered, and constructed major onshore and offshore facilities in Canada, the Caribbean, South America, Central America, the Middle East, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the United States, including Alaska.
Whether a client needs port facility development, shipyard construction, intermodal or rail expertise, dredge-fill land reclamation, specialized marine engineering and environmental services, or Maritime Transportation Security Act/International Ship and Port Security (MTSA/ISPS) code compliance, Parsons is the one-stop source for everything related to ports and harbors, whether domestic or international.
