Parsons’ Salt Waste Processing Facility Team Awarded Letter of Commendation
PASADENA, CA (June 18, 2015) – Parsons is pleased to announce that it has received a Letter of Commendation from the Department of Energy’s (DOE’s) Office of Environmental Management for the role its Salt Waste Processing Facility (SWPF) team played in the Department exceeding fiscal year 2014 Strategic Sourcing Initiative goals.
The Department’s Strategic Sourcing savings goal for fiscal year 2014 was $12.3 million. This goal was surpassed, achieving a total savings of $17.8 million for the fiscal year. This was due, in large part, to the strong participation of Parsons’ SWPF procurement team in the initiative. The team surpassed its fiscal year 2014 savings goal of $1.2 million by an impressive 33%, achieving a total savings of $1.6 million.
“We congratulate our Salt Waste Processing Facility procurement team on this noteworthy achievement,” said Frank Sheppard, Parsons Vice President and Project Manager. “Their determination and dedication to the goals of the DOE helped to realize considerable cost savings.”
The Strategic Sourcing Initiative is a contractor-led initiative in which active contractor participation is critical to achieving the ultimate goal of maximizing taxpayer value for every DOE acquisition dollar spent.
