PASADENA, CA (August 31, 2017) – Four projects in which Parsons played a key role have been named by the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials (AASHTO) as Top 12 finalists in the America’s Transportation Awards and are now eligible for the Grand Prize Award and the People’s Choice Award:
- The Envision™ Platinum-certified Ohio River Bridges (ORB) East End Crossing project in Indiana became eligible after receiving the award for Quality of Life/Community Development (large project) from the Mid-America AASHTO region. Parsons served as technical advisor for the public-private partnership and was the lead partner in the Community Transportation Solutions joint venture that served as the Indiana Department of Transportation’s general engineering consultant for the overall project.
- The ORB Downtown Crossing in Kentucky became eligible after winning an award for Operations Excellence (large-size project) from the Southern AASHTO region. Parsons served as general engineering consultant on this project.
- The I‑66 Active Traffic Management System in Virginia became eligible after winning an award for Operations Excellence (medium-size project) from the Southern AASHTO region. Parsons oversaw the integration of intelligent transportation system (ITS) devices along 34 miles of the I‑66 corridor using Parsons’ Intelligent NETworks® (iNET) software. Parsons provided project management and ITS inspection services, tuned the algorithms necessary to support the advanced traffic management system, and implemented the iNET software for the Virginia Department of Transportation’s Northern Region operations.
- The Broadway Bridge over the Arkansas River in Arkansas became eligible after winning an award for the Best Use of Technology and Innovation (medium-size project) from the Southern AASHTO region. Parsons provided construction inspection services to the Arkansas Department of Transportation’s Resident Engineer’s Office for this project.
