SBTi Validates Parsons’ Near-Term, Long-Term, and Net Zero Target(s)
CHANTILLY, Va., (April 1, 2025) – Parsons Corporation (NYSE: PSN) announced today that the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) has validated its company-wide science-based near-term, long-term, and net-zero target(s) in recognition of the company’s commitment to sustainability. In 2023, Parsons committed to setting company-wide emission reductions with the SBTi and submitted the targets for approval in 2024.
“Receiving validation from the SBTi represents the next step in our commitment to drive operational best practices towards a net-zero future,” said Catherine T. Sheane, Vice President, Environmental, Social & Governance & Sustainability at Parsons. “Paired with our sustainable project delivery practice, our commitment to being a corporate steward of the environment drives us to lead through our own actions to bring about lasting environmental solutions.”
Targets include:
- Near-Term targets: Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 50% by 2030 from a 2019 base year; increase active annual sourcing of renewable electricity from 0% in 2019 to 100% by 2028; reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 30% by 2030 from a 2019 base year.
- Long-Term Targets: Reduce absolute scope 1 and 2 GHG emissions 90% by 2045 from a 2019 base year; reduce absolute scope 3 GHG emissions 90% within the same timeframe.
- Overall Net-Zero Target: Reach net-zero greenhouse gas emissions across the value chain by 2045.
