Mobile Data Collector
Monitor your fleet in real-time with mobile data collection and tracking solutions. Gather raw data on location, equipment performance, weather conditions, and more, and convert that data into easy-to-understand, actionable information that makes it easier to manage and maintain your equipment.
How It Works
Winter Road Management
Integrating traffic management systems into snow operation vehicles is a game-changer when it comes to improving driver awareness of road conditions and reducing weather-related accidents. Our innovative solution, the Mobile Data Collector (MDC), streamlines the communication between snowplows and the advanced traffic management system (ATMS). Each snowplow is equipped with a controller that receives information from multiple sources, including the operator, spreader controller, GPS receiver, and plow blade sensors. This data provides current information that improves operational efficiency, optimizes the application of materials, and ultimately reduces costs. The flow of information is seamless, allowing for a more efficient and effective snow removal process.
By collecting and tracking data in real-time, states can optimize the costly and labor-intensive process of snow removal and roadway treatment.
Features include:
- Touch-screen user interface for operator input of driving conditions and lane treatment information.
- Interface to existing spreader controllers to monitor dispensing rates and road and air temperature.
- GPS monitoring of snowplow location, speed, and direction; ability to integrate information with any NTCIP central system and check status from any desktop or mobile browser
- Automatic detection of plow blade position.
- ATMS interface enables plow information to directly populate ATMS operator screens.
- Create, customize, and automate reports for a quick and clear understanding of fleet activities.
- Integrated onboard web interface allows road maintenance decision information (MDSS), including local radar, weather forecasts, and recommended material application rates, to be communicated to the snowplow operator.
Public Safety
Optimize public safety budgets while keeping citizens safe with mobile data collection and tracking. Law enforcement, safety service patrols, fire departments, and EMTs can utilize our technology to increase emergency response efficiency and gain more control of their mobile assets.
Benefits Include:
- Reduce emergency response times
- Increase safety of department members
- Real-time view of fleet vehicle locations
- In-vehicle display of traffic and road conditions
- Detailed bread-crumbing and reporting options
- Monitor and report unauthorized use or non-emergency speeding
Mining
Gain an unparalleled level of insight to your mining operations with a mobile data tracking system that provides real-time data on location and status of all fleet vehicles.
Our data tracking mining solution allows for:
- Monitor all assets, including for loss prevention and alarm warnings on all equipment
- Diagnose and correct engine failures before they happen
- Produce detailed reports for documentation, safety, and to gauge the overall health of the mine
- Prepare for weather conditions
- Ensure correct drilling locations
Construction
Increase productivity, reduce loss, and keep your jobsites safe by monitoring your entire fleet of equipment and assets from a single screen. The powerful mobile data tracking system can alert you to issues before failure occurs, saving on repair costs, reducing downtime, and improving safety.
Benefits include:
- Monitor equipment location and performance, which helps prevent theft
- Gauge vehicle speed
- Diagnose and correct engine failures before they happen
- Document progress through customizable, dynamic reporting options
- In-cab monitoring of vehicle status, weather, and routes
Our Technology
Data Collectors
Mobile Data collectors are configured to interface with multiple components on the plow, as well as the vehicle itself. The MDC collects raw data from data collection points on the plow, the vehicle, the engine bus, and any ancillary weather sensors. If equipped with a camera, the unit collects a screenshot of road conditions. This data is sent via wireless technology to the central software.
Central System and In-Cab Display
Once a data collector is properly installed and capturing information, the next step is to move that raw data into the central software. The central software is what you use to view and manage what the data collectors are capturing. The iNET® snowplow module powers the central system and provides information to report, track, and manage your winter road management fleet.
Snowplow Monitor
An integrated cellular data modem allows operators to access pre-defined webpages and allows central software to retrieve data from the MDC. In the event that the MDC cannot be accessed, data is stored and automatically transferred when communications is restored.

Equipment Tracker
The MDC-007 series is available in multiple models allowing for customization to meet the needs of modern fleets. For use in vehicle cabs and powered from either the J-1939 connector or wired directly to the vehicle, the base MDC-007 provides real-time location, speed, and heading information to our iNET®. The base MDC-007 also optionally supports engine monitoring.
- Integrate seamlessly with iNET® ATMS
- Automatically transfer information with no operator action required
- Store-and-forward: save up to 5000 messages when cellular service is not available, and automatically transfer them once cellular service becomes available
- All models monitor latitude, longitude, speed, heading,
Vehicle Tracking Camera
The MDC-007C is designed to be installed in the enclosed cab of a vehicle and mounted to the interior of the windshield. The unit provides real-time location, speed, and heading information along with camera images to iNET®.
- Monitors latitude, longitude, speed, and heading.
- Automatically captures and transfers camera images, showing the road as viewed by the vehicle operator.
- Automatically transfers information with no operator action required.
- Integrates seamlessly with iNET® ATMS.
- Store-and-forward: saves up to 5000 messages when cellular service is not available, and automatically transfers them once cellular service becomes available.
